There once was a king, and that king had a servant, and no matter what happened in life, good or bad, he would always exclaim “It is good!”

Once, while out hunting (the king loved to hunt, and would always take this particular servant with him whose job it was to load his rifle) and On this particular day, for some unknown reason, the rifle loaded by the servant malfunctioned causing the king to lose his thumb, to which the servant exclaimed “It is good!” The king was furious and had the servant immediately thrown into prison.

Approximately a year later, the king was out hunting again with another servant when he found himself surrounded by another tribe of hunters who were cannibals. The king and servant were both bound and tied to a stake, and as the captors were about to set the fire, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb. (Their superstitious practice was to only consume people who were whole and not maimed, so they freed the king.)

The king went to the prison where he had the first servant locked up and apologized for imprisoning him, to which the servant exclaimed “It is good.” How can it be good the king cried, to which the servant said, “if you had not imprisoned me, I would have been with you when you were captured by the cannibals.”

“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God — those to whom he has called according to his plan.” (Romans 8:28)
